I know I am not alone that feels so excited because we only have few weeks left before this year ends. Finally, we can survive a year that seemed to be hell of a ride. We might be busy in doing some shopping sprees and attend year-end parties. Although our schedules are loaded with these activities, it does not mean we need to lower our guards down in being informed and prepared.

Cagayan de oro City, the city which I reside at is a catch basin. It is surrounded by different mountains so basically it means water from the mountains will be stuck in our city. Even when the rain is not that strong but if it is continuous such a Low Pressure Area (LPA), it might cause some casualties. An example of this is Bagyong Sendong which killed more than a thousand of people in Cagayan de Oro Coty and its neighboring towns and cities. It was said to worth a hundred year rain that caused devastation on low-lying areas.

As a concern citizen, I wanted to help my community and by doing so, the easiest and fastest way I could do to help them is to inform them means that they could get information about the weather. I tried to ask help from some of my friends and I am glad they answered my call. I was introduced to windytv. This website together with applications on both iStore and Google Play was introduced to me by some of the geologists in our bureau.

Before you install, what is windytv by the way?

Windytv according to itunes provides accurate weather forecast. It has various features that are helpful to its users.

When you visit its website, it would directly lead you to the newest station from your area. Since I am from the southern portion of the Philippines, the location I was directed to is Cebu City. On the image above, it depicted the current status of Bagyong Vinta that has reached Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Features of windytv

Few moments after opening the website, a marker would be visible. You can move it to other location and determine its kt/kn or knots which is the unit of speed. 1kt is equivalent to one nautical mile per hour.

By clicking the arrow pointing below, you will see the following information which are substantial.

It will show information for an entire week starting from the moment you check on the website. It will show varying information for every three hours on temperature which is in celsius, rain and snow (mm), wind (kt), wind gusts (kt), and wind direction. You can also read forecast from varying forecast stations and even compare it.

Search information from other places

By clicking on the search button, you can type the places you wish to know the weather forecast. This is useful for those who are not particular were certain places are in the map just like me

Viewing windytv is better when in app or viewed on your laptop or personal computer.

On mobile, you can view base on your preferences. Here, I viewed it according to my preference or favorite. The settings can also be changed as well which makes it convenient to a huge number of users.
