Messing around with Virtualmin...

It is an amazing feeling to run a webserver with lots of domains and doing the work yourself. Yes, it feels cool, and it is much cheaper than to pay costly hosting fees to providers offering the same service. It gets much cheaper, because you just rent a VPS and after that, you can host the websites for free. If you only host one website, it might not be much cheaper, but if you have a VPS running 10 websites, then there is a lot of money to save with this method.

Of course, you do not have the security of a professional provider taking daily backups and having great routines for such stuff. In other words, you should be careful hosting your own website if the website is really important. But, if it isn't that extremely important, then you can have a lot of fun and save a lot of money running the server yourself.

But, I should also warn you, because it can take a lot of time especially when you experience some sort of error that you do not understand why has come around. Today, I spent 4 hours trying to solve an issue, and I still don't really understand the problem. But, in the end I fixed it as I upgraded the packages on the server, and maybe that was the issue. The only strange thing is that I tried it on a different server first with all the newest packages, and it didn't work there. Then I tried on a second server, and it didn't work there either, only after upgrading the packages.

No matter what, I made it work, and now I feel extremely tired, but also happy.

THe only thing remaining is to hope that all my sites will remain safe and sound, and that thousands of visitors will check the content on the sites in the coming weeks, months, and years!
