I Have a Job for You

Recently, I had a friend ask me to help them with one of their website properties they own. I immediately back pedaled and explained that I was in no way a website master, coder or anything like that. I tried several different excuses as to why I would not be able to help but my friend insisted. He offered to pay me for my time and services, but again I declined.

Seeing my friends look of dejection gave me a change of heart and so then I said I would help..... point him in the right direction. So for a moment he brightened up but then the gloomy face set in again. I realized that I was not going to get out of this one so easily. I asked what happened to his regular Web Developer to which he replied that business was not so good and that it he could not afford what the web developing company was charging him for a small change needed on one of his websites.

Again I explained to my pal that even if I wanted to help him, that I was not a "coder" but that I knew of a service that could possibly help. He was not having it. He insisted that whatever was going to be done to fix his web problem, that I would be in charge of it, no matter who ultimately did the work. So in this case I became a part-time web contractor.

The task was pretty simple. On this new website, he wanted a "Coming Soon" page with some nice graphics and a Count Down Clock. So after getting a feel of what the website will be about, and how he plans to monetize it as well as the image he wants to portray, I explained to my friend the visual ideas I had for his website. He liked what I had in mind as far as the layout and design.

Now for the big question. How much was this simple landing page with some graphics, text and a count down clock going to cost? My friend told me that he was quoted $400 - $500, to which I replied that it was an outrageous amount for a simple landing page. I realized that the graphics and word content were going to have to be created but that estimate still seemed very pricey.

Fiverr.com To the Rescue

"Remember that Time is Money"

I looked around on the internet on websites like careerbuilder.com and monster.com finally landing on craigslist.com. Here people do put up a resume but you can also put up a specific job listing as well as find people offering there Website services and skills per job or contract. I looked around some more on the internet until I ran across the Uber and Airbnb of small job online freelancing called Fiverr.com

Fiverr.com is a world wide online market place where freelance contract jobs start at $5 but can go into the thousands. I looked at the reviews and read some news articles, quickly realizing that I was in the right place to help with this task of creating a landing page with a count down timer on it. I created an account and verified my information. I then looked around to see what others were doing on the Fiverr.com website. I saw some offering their services, while others were creating what are called "Gigs" on Fiverr. These "Gigs" can be anything from logo creation to the creation and customization of a full e-commerce website with shopping cart. People will do small videos/commercials for you or professionally edit a video you recorded.

I ultimately listed two gigs on Fiverr. The first "Gig" was for the necessary graphics needed for the website. Then once that was done, I proceeded to list the second "Gig" which now entailed making a simple plain home page or landing page. This page, that I called the "Coming Soon" page because of the count down timer would also include the recently created graphics and content. Both these two newly listed "Gigs" on Fiverr were completed in less than 24 hours for about half what was originally quoted, and that is with me receiving a small reward for helping out.

There were other sites like Fiverr that offered freelance services to get small jobs like these completed at lower costs. Sites like Sellfy and iWriter are similar, but Fiverr.com is by far the leader when it comes to finding good freelance work at very reasonable prices for an amazingly fast turn around time. So if you are looking to get something done on a website, or you yourself want to earn to extra online money, then places like Sellfy.com, iWriter.com and Fiverr.com are there for you.

Cool information.

thanks @cryptopie

I heard about the project for a long time Fiverr, I do not seem to have heard any complaints, but another opinion is always useful.Thank you for sharing information @streetstyle :)

You are welcome @serkagan

Thank you, I will definitely use.

I think the main problem of Fiverr is hard to find a really valuable gigs. Many of the ratings and comments under gigs are in copy+paste format. It will sadden me. After all, you can find many interesting options. (;

Thank you. This is @originalworks btw....

Gigs on fiverr.com are affordable and worthy. I have also earn some moeny in it as a graphic designer and 3D artist. Upwork and freelancer are also good options. If you want to design any specific graphic for you I can do that for you.

Thanks for the offer @rocksg and the info on the other sites. I will keep that in mind ok. Thank you again.

You are welcome dear, keep checking my posts from time to time. You can get some cool art there and I can design one for you.

Not realy had good experiences with it. Not as a requester and or provider.

Sorry to hear that @zoef

freelancer are more happy to know that their working area increase day by day @streetstyle.

Nice post, thanks for sharing.

This is really nice of you sharing these links my friend! I would still say, even here on steemit we have some great individuals who are great developers and designers. I would even suggest you check @sjennon if you have anything to do in the future, she is just amazing!
Cheers
@progressivechef

I agree @progressivechef I just recently found out about @steemgigs too from @stellabelle

So there are a few venues, but fiverr was quick though, so that was essential.

Designers and coders are expensive, knew this guy that made 2k in a day for making a website... He actually had more than a month for it. But yeah, if ur good, u can make a lot of money in this world... Sites like those (fiverr.com) might at least make it more fair for the "consumers".

Yes @droucil Fiverr does help tremendously on cost cutting and even can save time. Who knew?

I knoiw that site but never made any $ on it. Steemit is a whole other thing! :)

Freelance work on fiverr is tantalizing but must be able to edit images and have skill ..

I know Fiverr it is a great site to earn extra income with our skills or to get our work done. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

i used it once it is full of new people who don't even understand what is basic requirement

I just used it for the first time @blazing but it seemed to work out really well for me. I did screen the people responding to the "Gig" listing though, so maybe that helped. Plus it saved money and the job was very well done. Actually, as soon I get the go ahead, I will be listing another "Gig" there soon.
Thanks for you input though.

oh yeah may be i have not searched it quite well will give it another shot :)

Thank you @streetstyle for letting me know about Fiverr, i didn't knew about it before reading your post.
Btw you are really good at writing, Keep up the good work.

See you around!!!

thank you! @silviu93
