TORONTO - At least in the first meeting of the regular season, Giancarlo Stanton exceeded the expectations the Yankees had about him, despite how high they were.

The star began his career with New York hitting two homers and a double, for the Yankees to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 on Thursday.

The first fly-by of Stanton with the Yankees was the most powerful one ever shot at the opposite field since the Major Leagues began measuring in 2015 the speed with which the ball is connected. The second one deposited the spherical one in an esplanade for parties that is located behind the central garden, in the ninth entrance.

Stanton totaled four RBIs, which was enough for Aaron Boone to take the win in his first regular-season game as manager of New York

The Dominican Luis Severino (1-0) threw five episodes and two thirds for the Yankees, who did not win an opening duel of their season since 2011.

Stanton led the majors with 59 homers last year, and won the National League Most Valuable Player award with the Miami Marlins. Derek Jeter, a former Yankees star, was among a group of investors who bought the Marlins, and gave Stanton to New York, where he is now a teammate of Aaron Judge, last year's Rookie in the American League.

With such gunpowder, the Bronx Bombers will look to take the step they missed last year to reach the World Series.

Stanton saw a strike that J.A. Happ (0-1) in the first inning. He then sent the ball 426 feet from the plate, to produce two runs. It is estimated that the ball went off at 117.3 miles (187.7) kilometers per hour.
