It was a rather long journey travelling from the port city of Calabar through Abakaliki, Onitsha, Asaba down to Warri an oil-rich city in Delta State, Nigeria.

I started out at about 4am. Got to the park where I boarded a bus. Shortly after then we zoomed off. I knew it was going to be a long one. I had assumed eight hours max for the journey but it soon turned out I was wrong as it took two extra hours to get my destination.

That was exactly two days ago. I remember dropping you guys some few lines on my way, informing you of my journey and my plans to bring you a series on 'Becoming a Generational leader' very soon. That plan is still in the pipelines.
That's why on the interim, I've decided to let you in on the sights and sounds of the wedding engagement of a friend that actually made me travel that far.
In Nigeria, we attach much value to wedding ceremonies. This is because in most parts we believe it's a once-in-a-lifetime event. It's also an avenue for showcasing our rich cultural heritage as a people.
For instance, in Yoruba land a traditional wedding isn't complete if items such as alligator pepper, umbrella, bottle of honey, variety of fruits, bride price and the widely-known talking drum is absent.
In Igbo land, there are also spelled out requirements for acceptable wedding ceremony. Kindly see full list for Igbo traditional wedding here
In Hausa land also, there are requirements that must be fulfilled.
Most importantly the prestige glamour and elegance that come with these occasions have made it a look-forward-to experience for the average Nigerian.
It is on this note I bring to you sights and sounds of this wedding engagement.
Enjoy!
