Showing off with wealth is just a thing humans do, we like to show how much we have and we like to share it with our friends and family.

A few years ago I worked at as an "extra" florist at a wedding where both families spend extreme amounts of money. They spent more cash on that wedding than what most people make in a lifetime. They spent 600.000$ on the dress, 700.000$ on flowers and several millions on security and the hotel. I just think that somewhere on the way to extreme wealth you lose grasp of what your money is really worth.
