Considering a Chain Resturant to Cater Your Wedding?

I know it might sound a bit odd.. but in the last few years, the chain restaurants have really stepped up their game as far as doing catering to events. They even offer things for catering that are not available in the brick and mortar restaurants.

I have seen a few weddings, we have served and they have had a chain restaurant cater, and if you had not asked anyone who knew - you honestly would have no idea it came from a chain restaurant.

Same thing goes for grocery store's bakery departments promoting wedding cakes. I had a discussion just yesterday concerning the couple who had decided to get their cake done at the Wal-Mart bakery. They said it kinda apologetically and laughed about it - as if they thought it might come off as sounding silly.

But - I told them, there are many grocery store bakeries who are getting into specifically catering to weddings. I also added – think about how many cakes are being made per week at a grocery store bakery versus how many are being made by independent bakers – I would be willing to bet the grocery store bakery bakes around 20 event cakes per week in total. I doubt most independent operators get the opportunity to get that much experience. Not to say that independents aren’t awesome at what they do – and may have more time to pay attention to very important but quaint details. So it is a toss up I believe. But, neither option is a bad option in this case. !
