BEGINNINGS

Have you ever heard about French music producers Phillipe Cerboneschi aka Philippe Zdar and Hubert Blanc-Francard aka Boom Bass ? They started working together in 1994, producing a trip-hop / breakbeat project called La Funk Mob which became their great passion of the early '90s. But the rave parties changed completely Phillipe Cerboneschi's point of view, pushing him into the house music. First steps on this unknown land were surprisingly good - a loud international debut of Philipe Cerboneschi and Etienne de Crécy album Motorbass - Pansoul LP moved them to the tops of the British Charts with the title "album of the year".

1999

Not so much time later Boom Bass was infected by the techno epidemic, and together with Philipe Zdar they founded a new project, called Cassius. Their first single was released in 1996. It was a self-published track Foxxy. In January 1999, they released first hit single Cassius 1999, jumping to the UK Top 40 chart at 7th place. This was soon followed by their superb debut album, 1999, which was promoted by 2 more singles - Feeling For You and La Mouche.

AU REVE

After few years of playing worldwide and producing after hours, in 2002 world had an opportunity to hear their 2nd LP
called Au Rêve. Featurings with famous names like Jocelyn Brown (I'm A Woman), Steve Edwards (The Sound Of Violence), Ghostface Killah (Thrilla) and Leroy Burgess (Under Influence) unfortunately didn't revolutionize the music industry but split the audience in the middle. Some people were glad that the band is evolving while other were upset that the old Cassius is dead. In my opinion album was very good and I have to show the highest respect for tune called The Sound Of Voilence and a collaboration with Leroy Burgess. If you still don't know who is it, then obviously you didn't read my post from the Disco Tuesday about this living legend of boogie and disco !

15 AGAIN

Cassius returned to the studio in 2006 with ambitious goals for a next LP including featurings from Pharrell Williams, Sebastian Tellier, and Etienne de Crecy bringing even more vocals than Au Rêve and more nostalgia for the '80s than ever before. Somehow their plans failed and beside of the funky, post-punk and techno influences 15 Again sounds just like a pop album.

IBIFORNIA

Their last album was released in 2016 and beside of a very creative video with a nice popsong for a sunny days contributed a featuring from Cat Power & Pharrell Williams, sadly I cannot see any positive points on the LP. Perhaps I am just an old fox and I lost a track of the following hot trends in the music lately.
