6-5-2019
We had a fairly nice day weather wise on Sunday 6-2-2019. So we went out on an exploration drive to a few locals we had only seen during winter.
One of those winter drive-bys was Erik Hansen Scout Park. While there are three signs describing the bluff views and other information, I did not see a plaque or the reason for the naming of the park. I had to do an Internet search, I may have just missed the sign/plaque. This story from the Redoubt Reporter, has the background info on this park and other names of note in the area.
It is not a very big park, just a standard city lot size about 1/4 of an acre. There are several benches for people to sit and enjoy the sunrise/sunset views or just the views of the inlet and the birds drifting by along the bluff's edge. Here is one of the few flower beds in the parks, the front and back view of it. I did like the way the large drift wood root/stump looked.
Here is a statue of Erik, he is one of the very few statues we have in our local area.
ERIK HANSEN SCOUT PARK — The elder son of Dr. Peter and Karolee Hansen, of Kenai, Peter Erik Hansen succumbed to brain cancer at age 32. A 1982 KCHS graduate, Hansen became an Eagle Scout in 1981 as a member of Kenai Boy Scout Troop 357, and the bluff-side park was named in his memory.
Information from the story linked above.
All of the benches have little plaques commemorating a person or groups of people.
A small Panoramic view of the view.
Big View
While it may be a small park, the views are incredible. I am looking forward to fall and some really nice sunsets from the benches, a place to sit and wait in semi comfort for the sun to do its thing.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay, let him first explain the guidelines. That's his most recent post, you really should visit and read it, you never know what kind of Easter eggs might be laying around in it.
It may not be a big park, but it has a lot of interest to see and such a beautiful view
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

I thought that was nice, the park being done for a child, and then the community allowing others to members their loved ones in the park also.

It will be a nice sunset/sunrise place this fall and winter before it is covered in feet of snow.
