This is my #wednesdaywalk initiated by tattoodjay.
It snowed this morning, but a few hours later it cleared up, so decided to have a walk up on the moors. We started off at the Robin Hood Inn (wasn't tempted to call in for a drink)! We'd only been going for half an hour when I realised perhaps this wasn't a good idea! It was very windy on the top of the hill and very slippery. In the distance, we could see the sky full of snow so we quickly took refuge behind a wall. Within a few minutes we couldn't see in front of us. Even the sheep ran up the field. Animals aren't stupid.
After the snow storm had finished, we decided to cut the walk short so replanned a smaller circular walk. Not long after, the sun came out and the day became quite pleasant. Calm was restored in the sheep world.
We found some lovely, red striped rocks along the way. I presume it's the iron that has caused the red colour.
After walking on the trail for awhile we ended up back on boggy ground. We then made our way up to the waterfall. In the summer the water dries up, but when the water is cascading down, my late mum used to say "I see mother's doing her washing". Today it was in full flow.
After walking across the wooden bridge over the waterfall we stumbled across a wooden cross. It was in commemoration of a couple - perhaps it had been their favourite spot.
After the waterfall we made our way down the wooden steps. Thankfully, I'd got my walking pole with me to keep me upright. It was so slippy.
As we dragged our weary bodies over the stile we noticed the front of a car in the ditch. Someone has gone straight through the brick wall. Hope they're ok.
Finally, we found our way back to the car, cold and weary but we had an enjoyable walk in the end.
Thank you.
