Wednesday Walk to find Little John's Grave

in wednesdaywalk •  5 years ago

My #wednesdaywalk was to visit the alledged grave of Little John situated in St. Michael's churchyard in Hathersage, Derbyshire (UK).

Little John was a member of Robin Hood's gang, a medieval outlaw living in Sherwood Forest in Nottingham with his band of ‘Merry Men’ – robbing the rich and giving to the poor.

We parked up and followed the signposts walking up the hill to the church. Legend has it that Little John was actually 7ft tall so it was quite easy finding the grave!

Whether the story of Robin Hood is 'fact or fiction', I don't really know, but I'd like to think so.

Thank you. It was big enough to be him!

👍🙂👍

How cool! No matter the historical proof, all of the books and movies have made Robin Hood real for me. What a great place for a walk.

Yes, it's too good a story not to believe. I don't live too far from the Major Oak where Robin Hood used to hide from the Sheriff. As children, we could hide in it ourselves but it's fenced off now to preserve it.

Wow... What an awesome adventure for any child. I love knowing that you have pieces of the story nearby!

I say let's all believe it. Life is more interesting when the legends are true.

I still believe in Santa so I'm definitely sold on Robin Hood!

Ha ha! Keep the faith, sister!
