Wednesday walk challenge Benches, and Steem Basic Income Give away

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.

Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion, but you may have a better chance of receiving a Steem Basic Income Share if you do.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.

And if you are looking for another fun challenge, check out the Make Me Smilehosted by @elizacheng, coming soon we will be working to collaborate on occasionally on these challenges, watch for an update in a future Wednesday walk

This weeks Walk, well this weeks walk Post

This past week although I did a lot of walking to and from various work buildings, the weather was not that conducive to photowalks, so for this weeks post I looked through some shots I had never used, so its sort of on out take post but focused on something if you go on a long walk you might appreciate seeing.

When visiting NYC it is quite possible you are going to do a lot of walking getting to and from all the places you may want to visit, and it can get tiring and coming across somewhere to sit can be such a welcome sight, and that's what I will focus on for this post.
Now this bench is in Carl Schurz Park on the East Side of Manhattan up near 90th Street, and I did something I do not often do with mono edits I went with a high contrast look for this one, and I kind of liked the moody feel to the end result.
Perhaps it was my mood or I was partially frustrated with not having got out to take new shots that lead to this darky more moody edit, but I still kind of like the mood of this shot.

And another bench, built around a tree in Battery City Park, and I went with a mono Edit for this one as well, but I think its less moody with the bright light behind the trees in the background.

If your not a fan of Mono or moody images don't worry there is come color coming :)

And again we are in Battery Park City and with some color, and lots of benches, and yes those are poll tables infront of the benches, no felt on them and pretty run down when I saw them.
Now when I edited the first couple of shots what I said at the start of this walk post about not getting out for a photowalk was true, Andon Sunday when I finished editing the photos for this post it was still true as I started preparing this post, but Sunday afternoon I managed to get out for a walk downtown, it was cloudy for the most part, but the temperature had risen up to 45F so I got out for a walk, around Downtown here, so my Mood picked up a little, and I have some new shots to edit, but I know I won't have time to edit them all between now and Wednesday when I share this post, so sticking with the Wednesday Walk out take shot post :)

And here we are still in Battery Park City and as you can see there is no Shortage of benches here if you need to stop for a minute and rest your legs, they looked in pretty good condition to me but I seldom stop and sit when I go out for a walk so I never tried them out.

And I finish off back in Carl Schurz Park where I started off at for this post, as you can see it has a nice promenade alongside the East River, and plenty of benche sif you want to sit, relax and watch the world go by.

Steem Basic Income give away

I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income

What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to randomly send some Steem to add shares for some of my followers so on the weekend
I sponsored the following people, @jurich60, @leylar, @singa, @bxlphabet, @kaminchan, all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk .

And a special bonus this week @elizacheng will send one SBI share to @steven-patrick,

I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

Unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

I love your benches. I take photos of them myself, and as usual, you put me to shame. And I really appreciate your city views. I hope I get back to NYC someday :)

First off never say that I put yours to shame thats not true at all, your explanations with your posts are far more interesting to read than what I do, plus you do far less typos

I hope you can visit NYC sometime it is an amazing city, even though I complain about it being a concrete Jungle

Haha! I am a better writer than photographer for sure :)

I have visited in the past and always have sore legs and feet when I return home. I'm a bit far now though.

and your posts are always so interesting to visit ;)

Aw! thank you. I am so glad you like them. I am thrilled to have places to post all this. I have so many photos and I don't feel they are up to the level needed for my art sites and fb etc is a waste of time!

yes indeed thats the cool thing with blogging on here its more about the whole post the images and writing, where as other sites are more focused on the short impact of the image

Thanks so much I do appreciate the feedback and support

That first shot is killer! I love the high contrast of it, which I very rarely use, but, it fits it so well. I especially love the L.O.N.G. look down the bench.

Killer, I tell you!!

Really a part of life in the city, this bench thing. I guess I never realized Battery Park had so many. Now, I am wondering why I never noticed! Talk about paying attention to details!

A wonderful take out on your daily walks! I really love benches and photograph them where ever I go. Happy #WedensdayWalk!! Mine is coming!!! :)

Upped and Steemed

!tip

Thanks its something i seldom do high Contrats but I did love that shot and may do more of them,
I probably would never have noticed the benches without my camera in hand lOL

Wednesday Walk - In No Particular Direction !!

i6u79n1vo1.jpg

Cheers thanks for joining inthe Wednesday Walk fun

Always a pleasure :)

Actually, I just realise that benches look much better in black and white photos! The attention seems to be focused on the humble bench instead of the bright blue sky!
Colour photos of the playground would give a different mood altogether.

Cheers.

YEs indeed I know what tour saying that is so true

Great challenge @tattoodjay and great photos. The river provides an open space to escape the crowded, hectic, closed in feeling that sometimes can get to you in the city.

Thanks for the visit and your so right walking along these walk ways by the river you can almost forget the hustle and bustle of the big city

I am bound to share my first walk on this challenge... count me in, I will post soon.

Here is my entry : https://steemit.com/wednesdaywalk/@kamrunnahar/wednesday-walk-to-mini-zoo

Thanks so much and off to check out your entry :)

You are right. You are very correct sometimes we need to take some work around

NOw with my age my Knees aren’t up for running so walking is my form of exercise

you are absolutely right!!! benches are very necessary when you go for long walks. We often walk for a long time and therefore I really appreciate the presence of comfortable benches on the streets. very often it is also a kind of decoration. I like photos in color more - the benches on them look more fun and comfortable. but mono photo benches look cold and don't want to sit on these. :)))
https://steemit.com/wednesdaywalk/@tali72/wednesdaywalk-we-continue-walks-on-the-ice-age-e4bd66a6ce487

I think my edit of these Mono shots I used was affected by the cold here and it came across in the photos, I used to seldom do Mono before joining Steemit but now I do some now and again but I to much prefer color.

Mono direction in photography is a real space for art. my husband once read about this direction and showed me photos of famous photographers in mono. This is a special angle of view. although my husband rarely works in mono mode. you have great photos !!!!

Thanks for the kind words, and I have to admit like your husband I didnt used to do much in Mono myself I am more a colorful guy, but since being on here I have found I do mono now and again :)

Hope you're staying warm today, and staying home for the rest of the week - things are gonna get bitter again quick!

Excellent photos! I particularly love the geometry of the shot with the pool tables - there's just something about how you framed it that gives it wicked awesome flow! Moody or colorful, you've got some excellent captures. Thanks again, as always for hosting this - !tip

Such a kind comment, and truly appreciate your support, kind comments like this is what keeps me posting here

Stay warm my friend its getting nasty out there

Always a pleasure :) and yes the last couple of days I was off work so was easy to keep warm,:)
I hope you have been able to keep warm

First of all ... wonderful photos! And the idea of presenting benches, that is, we have to rest a little.

Thanks so much and yes thats very true, stopping to rest is important and something I often forget lOL

I do this often ...

I am starting to stop and relax occasionally but need to do it more :)

Yes, it's even pleasant sometimes.

and pleasant is always good :)

Yes, of course!

Thanks and thanks again for joining i loved your post ;)

Those public pool tables are pretty awesome. I have never seen anything like that before. Chess tables yes, but never pool. Awesome shots, those are definitely some interesting benches!

I actually saw some Chess Benches last weekend but this is the first time I have seen outdoor pool tables as well

Congratulations @tattoodjay!
