Hi everyone,
Last Saturday, I had a night out with my friend Lindsay and old colleague Desiree. All three of us have worked at bar/dancingclub Kerkplein (Church Square?) in Breda, the Netherlands, back in 2013. I haven’t seen Desiree for almost four years and I never spoke to her again after she left the Netherlands for work abroad.
So, Lindsay told me she would go out with Desiree as it was a long time ago. An event was organized in Breda, called Vunzige Deuntjes, and many people have told me it’s a great event. I was thinking about whether to go out or not. I was very tired and lost a lot of energy due to personal circumstances.. Lindsay asked me over and over again and she told me this: ”You know, Kimberley, sometimes it can do you well when you go outside and do something fun!” I totally agreed with her but I couldn’t think of the pain in my body after a night out. I knew I would be dancing all night long, talking to many people.. It can cost a lot of energy, especially in the state where I’m in right now. The last time I went out in my city was in september 2016. Yup, almost a year ago. But yeah.. after many conversations, I decided to go out and dress myself up like I always do (A). Also, I haven’t seen Desiree for a long time so that was an extra excuse to go out :p.
This is us from last Saturday left to right: Lindsay, Desiree and I
When we met together, we were talking about old memories we’ve made during our time working at Kerkplein. We had a great team who supported each other in everything.. but the team fell apart when everyone started to quit their job after 2013. I have worked their from March 2013 - December 2013. Also, the amount of visitors started to decrease slowly. Back then, the bar was always full house. You could always find me there as it was my favorite spot. When I started to work there, it even felt like my second home.
This is a picture taken in 2013, while I was working. Reason why I worked there was because I could work, dance and also see my friends and family!
When we arrive at the club Graanbeurs, where Vunzige Deuntjes was held, I saw the security man who normally always stands at the door of Kerkplein. I haven’t seen him for a long time too so the first thing I did was walking to him and gave him a big hug! He is a big old man who can look very angry, but I’m not afraid of him :P.
Later, I saw my old boss from Kerkplein, who also owns both of the clubs but at that moment.. my old Cambodian friends arrived at the door! We were all surprised because they haven’t seen me going out in a long time and I haven’t seen them in a long time too! After greeting, I just had to run over to my old boss and hug him too.
Back at the time when I had a job interview at Kerkplein with the former manager, the boss walked in and immediately told the manager to hire me. Why? Because he knew I always spent my weekends at his club XD.
This was our crew back then! On this day we had a trip to an amusement park 'the Efteling'.

So, back to the evening. DJs were playing R&B, Zouk, reggae, Hiphop music and it felt great! I’ve met my other old colleagues and they even asked if this was a reunion of Kerkplein. Oh, we had so much fun. It made me realize that this is what I’ve been missing in the last three years. Meeting old friends, colleagues and new people. Talking about life, future plans and so much more. This night was enough for now. Even though my body still hurts from all the dancing, it was all worth my time and energy. Now it’s time to focus on my goals and graduation!
You are so hot!
