My Favorite Movie, Kind of an Old One

This is a very interesting challenge and this is the first time I will be participating, I missed last week's challenge. So this week the theme is My Favorite Movie", this should bring a lot of responses as everyone probably has gone to the movies and has a favorite.

After thinking it a little I have to say that my favorite movie has to be "Silent Movie" by Mel Brooks, a 1976 film, but I live in Honduras and back then you saw movies at least a year after there debut, and as I lived in a small town it was even at a later date. I saw this movie for the first time in 1978, and then when I went to University in the capital Tegucigalpa I was lucky enough to be able to see it again in a double cinema calle Palace-Lido, each one showed a different movie three times a day.

Well I went 10 days straight to see Silent Movie I just couldn't get it out of my mind it made me laugh so much, on the eleventh day I bought my ticket went into the theater and to my unpleasant surprise they had changed the movie, Silent Movie was in the other theater I had to watch Zombie II, a terror movie, worst mistake I have made in my life, there were a lot of pretty girls from a high school all around me so even though I was a coward and really scared I had to watch it all.

Anyway Silent Movie is indeed a silent movie, about a writer (Mel Brooks) who has this idea about making a silent film but is deterred by lots of things like a company that wants to buy everything called "Engulf and Devour", by his falling for a beautiful show girl who was really a set up by the powerful company, he falls back into alcoholism but in the end he triumphs, as was usual the good guy always wins. The funniest thing in the movie is that Mel tries to hire several well known actors and actresses and actors some accept some don't but he tries to hire Marcel Marceau the celebrated mime and he is the only one who speaks in the whole film, he says "NO".

Well about five years ago I told my kids about it and we watched it on Youtube, they didn't like it at all, so I guess tastes are different now, what can you do, you grow older and things become just memories, actually I didn't find it that great either five years ago but it is still my favorite movie.

This is a movie trailer, I hope you enjoy it.
