Weekly Photo Contest-week 3 @claudiaz

Opened 1912 as a rail bridge, converted to highway use in 1938, this bridge was closed in 1972 and a section was removed to allow boats through. The section on the left is maintained and used as a lookout platform for Park visitors.

Connected Bahia Honda Key and Spanish Harbor Key in Florida.

I guess a lot of people died trying to build these railroad bridges when a hurricane hit before they could evacuate. It is good that it has been repurposed.

his beautiful postings, dropped in my account and upvote

Thanks so much! I appreciate it!

Wow this is a sight. That viewing platform must be the perfect spot for the view. Boats still pass thru here?

Yes...if you look closely you can see people on top of the left side. The opening for boats is larger than it appears in my photo.

@melinda010100 thanks for sharing this with us, have a good day

You too, my friend!

I bet that's a great little fishing spot too. Broken bridges seem so sad somehow? Great image @melinda010100
