Why people fail on intermittent fasting.
There are many reasons for failing, but here are the most common mistakes.
You don't start.
Intermittent fasting can cause a mental block, going without food means being deprived. Food is survival, and you take away your ability to survive. This is of course not true. What happens when you fast is you are switching from food fuel to fat fuel. For once, you are living off the food you ate months ago, or even years ago; the stored fat. Maybe it will help if you realize this, and know you are not really depriving yourself; you are burning fat. Coffee and Tea does not break your fast.
Key is to
*Eat, nutrient dense foods.
*Do not cut calories.
*Get your mindset right.
(I help my clients with these)
You feel worse when fasting.
It takes 3 to 5 days to transition over to fat burning. In this time you are building new enzymes and the process of losing vitamins and minerals, can make you feel terrible. This is where most people give up. You can increase your magnesium and sodium (salt) intake. Bone broth has all the nutrients you need.
(I provide amazing tools to use to help make this process easier)
You don't losing weight.
Most people lose but some don't. Why?
The principle at work here - You get healthy to lose weight, you don't lose weight to get healthy. This is powerful. Intermittent Fasting repairs damaged organs.
If you are in menopause, your body will focus on repairing first, so focus on other health factors, such as.
*Is your energy levels going up?
*Are your cravings going away?
*Do you have less hunger?
*Do you experience more cognitive function?
If you answer yes to any of these, means it's working.
To improve weight loss.
*Cut carbs, when eating.
*Longer fasting times.
*Take short walks.
*Get proper sleep.
(I work out for you which foods and strategies, work best for you)
This is a biggie - Other people discourage you.
They tell you.
*You are starving yourself.
*You need to eat breakfast.
*You need to eat every three hours.
This is nonsense.
There is no need to eat that frequently. If you do, you never tap into the fat reserves, and it gets us into trouble with insulin. This is why we have a massive problem with pre-diabetes and diabetes. You are not starving the body; you are just shifting fuel from food to fat reserves.
When you eat is extremely important.
If you are doing LCHF, and you eat frequently, you still triggering insulin just by eating. Insulin is triggered by carbs and frequent eating. LCHF and fasting goes together. They both heal insulin. Insulin is behind most chronic issues.
