Ketosis has received increased attention from the general public & even the scientific community since it is perceived to offer numerous health benefits including metabolic regulation & weight loss ( to name a few). The diet has been applied for treatment of metabolic diseases such as type 1 & type2 diabetes & metabolic syndrome.

Some of the problems of the diet are long term sustainability, difficulties in implementation & adverse side effects. However one of the major issues is reducing the abundance of some of the major beneficial bacteria in our gut on a long term basis.
