Before I say anything, I wanna make it clear that I think that Jennifer Lawrence is a great actor. I don't find her to be nearly as insufferable as Brie Larson. Still, she's 32. She's not a kid making dumb statements anymore. Also, what is being pointed out is illustrative of the moral vacuousness of young people on the left.
Nobody should be faulted for taking friendly photos with somebody who eventually turned out to be a dick bag. I don't fault Jennifer Lawrence for being friendly with Harvey Weinstein. It's dumb to create any of this guilt by association. Not all of us are aware of what our colleagues, particularly bosses, are doing behind closed doors all the time. I took photos with dozens of rich, powerful guys and that's a cesspool of debauchery; so, it's likely that I'm in a photo with a sexual predator that's somewhere on the internet and I had no idea at the time.
That said, if and/or when anybody I was caught in a friendly photo with turned out to be a rapist, I think that I'd have a harder time dealing with the fact that I shook hands with such an evil person than I would dealing with the fact that Cenk Uyghur is a douche bag who says a lot of stuff that I don't like.
Of course, speech matters. Ideas matter. What you say says a lot about you. Still, as a matter of moral fortitude, what you do is more important.
If you're having nightmares about Tucker Carlson while knowing that Harvey Weinstein has put his hands on you, your moral compass is pointing in the wrong direction.
