Hey all!
I've recently discovered that there is now an official cryptocurrency rating system! Weiss Ratings claims to have produced the "world's first ratings of bitcoin, ethereum, ripple, dash and 70 other cryptocurrencies by a financial rating agency." However, many are shocked that Bitcoin has received a "fair" C+ rating while ethereum received a "good" B rating! According to CNBC, NO CURRENCIES RECEIVED AN A RATING! In response to this, Weiss Ratings received a DDoS attack from South Korea! Some may be surprised by this, but cryptocurrency is just starting to become popular this year; people are just starting to get a hang of how the blockchain works and are beginning to invest in something they are familiar with, mainly Bitcoin. Now, personally, I understand how Ethereum received a higher rating than Bitcoin. According to CNBC, the C+ was given because of "delays and high transaction costs, without immediate plans for an upgrade." Don't fret! Cryptocurrency is always changing and evolving. This will impact future ratings of cryptocurrencies!
I would post the official chart from Weiss Ratings, but it seems one must subscribe and pay in order to receive it. To get some more background information, check out my sources and some other links below. Thanks!
