Two years ago I rode on a float in a parade in New Orleans, LA on Mardi Gras. I was one step removed from the many strange people and things I encountered down on the ground. Still they have weighed heavily on my mind, and I have been working on this piece off-and-on about it since. I have a group of friends who I sometimes share my work with. They really liked this one specifically and keep telling me that I should try to get it in front of an actual audience.
I have never really been good at introducing and then selling people on the things I have created; I don't like the act of promotion and so I just don't do it. As a result, my work never gets read. This is not a unique situation. The old systems of publishing are dying. They are broken and have been for a number of years. But a new way forward has not yet been clear until now. I think Steemit is that way. I am very excited about it and hope you all are too. Thanks.
