Magpie

Cracticus Tibicen

Magpie is a black and white bird. They do have chestnut brown eyes. This one happened to landed on the bird-bath and decided to see what is in. Magpie are curious and amazing creature.

It decided to take a drink.

This one now is watching me, probably just curious what I am doing.

I've heard of the name but never seen this bird before.

They are same family as the Crow and don't make so much Noise.
They love Shinny things too.

Ah... I thought they sort of looks like crow too.

You're a wizard at this!

Much nicer than a crow but they can be mean

I suppose Hitchcock would be glad to use them for the most epic moments in the movie "The Birds."

This is a first for me. I have never seen or heard of a Magpie. It is a huge bird and so pretty! Is the Magpie related to the penguin? Had to say that because it is black and white. Great shot of it drinking!

They are fairly big, about the size of a small hawk. They have very sharp beaks, and in spring attack anyone they don't know who approaches their nest.

Magpie attacks in Australia are common.

Very interesting; thanks for the info. Beware of the Magpie! : )

I never seen one. They look big, maybe bigger that the average crow.

Magpies also have a love for shiny things abit like us bullion stackers lol :) they are my favourite birds the pearlescence on their black feathers is beautiful and they have alot of character :) the British magpies look a bit different tho..

photos by David Arkwright.

Nice pictures. I love it when they start playing with each other. It's great to watch them play-fight.

that is one big bird. It is now hard to find a big bird like that in my place, even I can call it a village in the mountain in my place. still natural, but i hardly see a big bird

Wow beautiful bird!

cool picture

Very nice shot, you so lucky

Great shots, I tried once to shot a bird drinking water but it flew...
