As reported by CNN, a staggering 307,000 veterans have died before the department would process their applications. 307,000. It is saddening and sickening to see our veterans who have risked their lives for our freedom to be treated worse than dogs.
A society that can not take care of their veterans does not deserve military protection.
Today, Donald J Trump singed into law the VA Accountability Act
This law will give the VA secretary the authority to remove VA employees that fail. The bill will protect whistle blowers. It gives the secretary the power to engage medical institutions that were not able to participate in the provision of medical care at the VA previously. In addition, President Trump singed into law the Veterans Improvement Act that allows veterans to chose the doctor they want/need.
A new accountability website was launched that publishes VA waiting times.
President Tump said: "In their courage, their dignity and their sacrifice - they represent the very best of us...."
He continued: "...Veterans were put on secret wait-lists. They were ignored. What happened was a national disgrace."
Indeed, it was.
