The Effects of a Steemit Whale

For all of you who don't understand the effects of a whale up-voting your post, here is a perfect example:

These two posts are as just about as similar as you will get. The only difference is one up-vote and one comment (on the post with 2 comments, one was a reply from me).

Well, there is another difference. Only minnows interacted with the first post. Someone (or a few people) with a lot of SP interacted with the second one. I just thought this was a good example of Steemit inequality.

"Inequality" ?? Sounds a bit socialist to me

If I were to compare what I meant to America, it would be the inequality of a bum compared to Donald Trump. Just because I point it out doesn't mean I am a socialist.

"Inequality" is such a loaded and twisted word that makes peoples head spin. The universe is one giant cauldron of inequality. What matters is if some uses violence to get what they want in stead of free negociation

Haha! I would be a socialist if I was complaining about it, but I'm not!

Inequality as in:
113 minnows made my post $0.49
114 votes made another post $37.66

  • It is possible one whale increased my post by $37.17
  • what probably happened was a couple people with a lot of SP raised my value to that amount (instead of 1 whale)

That is how it goes at the moment. Whales rule the steemin seas atm. When the dolphins and minnows grow i sp and reputation, and the value of Steem hopefully goes up it means that 50 upvotes will give you decent money even without whales .. but that will take some time i believe. If some economic turmoil comes our way .. steem could moonshoot along with top 20 altcoins etc. Who knows. .. but creating a steady flow of quality and unique posts will eventually secure your income i believe

One of the reasons I have a Steemit account.

That's a huge whale!
