I make it sound like an alert and it should be. In just a matter of days, I should be receiving (assuming I followed the rules of the contest) my first Whaleshares!

Don't Tell Me, You Haven't Heard Of Whaleshares? Oh My!

Don't feel bad about it. I hadn't either until not too long ago. So how can you get Whaleshares and what good would they do you anyhow?

I'm so glad you asked because it's a very good question indeed. The kind whose answer can directly benefit.....yes, you!

It All Starts With BitShares

If you haven't yet looked into BitShares (BTS), it's way past time to do so.

BitShares is a decentralized exchange developed by Dan Larimer. You know, the creator of Steem as well.

With the current correction in progress, the going rate for BTS may not get any better. To get your own BitShares wallet start here

How Do Whaleshares Fit In?

Whaleshares are utility tokens that anyone with a BTS wallet can hold. I also wondered what the heck a utility token was at first. The value becomes more than clear with a simple explanation.

Post On Steemit Then Utilize Your Whaleshares To Call A Whale!!!

Say it again? Yes, you use Whaleshares to call a whale who upvotes your post. The amount of the upvote depends on how many Whaleshares you have and decide to use.

The benefit of this should stick out like a sore thumb. Once you get some Whaleshares, you can boost your posts. Get enough and who knows? Maybe you'll boost a post into the Trending category!

So I Have My BTS Wallet, Now How Can I Get Some Whaleshares?

Steemians are able to earn Whaleshares by entering contests, winning awards, and participating in events.

Joining the #BitShares and #Whaleshares Discord communities is a good place to find these contests and events.

You'll also stay informed on all the latest happenings within these communities. Here's an invite link to BitShares on Discord and one to Whaleshares.

The MASDACS.io Beta Testing Twitter Challenge!

This is a current event and the one that should bring in my first Whaleshares. I encourage you to join by visiting the post by @officialfuzzy.

Nice writeup, I'm still trying to get my hands on some whaleshares.
You should probably change Stan to Dan in your post, though. Stan is his father...

Maybe take part in the Tweet off I mentioned. Thanks for noting the error, I made the edit right away.

thanks for sharing this valuable info.

Yes, of course. My pleasure. :)

I must be honest I dont understand all of this too well. I read the article downloaded the wallet (which does not want to work) and then headed to the discord servers. Have no clue what is going on there! need a 3 day course to understand what is happening in those servers, lol

Oh no. How does a wallet not work?

It is confusing at first. Try taking part in the Tweet Off I mention in the article. Once you get some Whaleshares you can worry about learning how to use them. The wallet just holds your BitShares and other tokens. Hit me up on Discord too if you like. :)

Ok I will contact you there when I get stuck. The wallet installs and then says loading but the screen remains black and nothing further happens. I will try again later today.

I am so glad you wrote this. I won some a while back but didn't know what to do with it and it all seemed so complicated with so much to learn all at the same time...

I still dont get it, lol. Maybe we can go over this when we have a learning meetup? :)

We should and we will!

Haha I know what you mean and was in your same shoes. I finally was able to catch up to the information. Thanks for stopping by @mariannewest. :)

My pleasure :)

That's some really useful guide. I have joined whaleshare for quite a while but I haven't know how to utilize it :/

Sure. Here's another post. A guide about how to use them once you do have them.
