What If Star Lord Didn't Punch Thanos In Infinity War?

Had Quill not hit Thanos, it’s fair to assume they would’ve managed to take the gauntlet, as Peter almost had it off. Does that mean Thanos would’ve lost?

Whatever happened, happened, because it was supposed to, because it’s what Strange saw in the one successful sequence. What we witnessed on Titan was that one successful outcome coming to fruition. They were never going to win on Titan, Strange knew this.

Why do you think Strange didn’t stop Quill? Why do you think Strange just didn’t rewind time once he saw the plan not going accordingly to the “successful” sequence he witnessed? Why didn’t Strange seem surprised by the dusting or why did he say “this was the only way.” He didn’t stop it because it was supposed to happen. So Quill was supposed to hit Thanos.

Why? We don’t know yet, maybe it was the only way where Thanos didn’t absolutely destroy Earth or the universe. Maybe they had to lose the battle to win the war. I’m guessing we’ll find out in Endgame.
