Bruichladdich "The Classic Laddie" is an unpeated single malt whisky from the Islay region of Scotland, which is known for its peaty whiskies. Islay is a small island located off the west coast of Scotland, and it has a long and rich history of whisky production dating back to the 18th century. Islay whiskies are known for their distinctive smoky and peaty flavors, which are a result of the island's unique climate, soil, and water sources.

Bruichladdich is a well-known distillery on Islay, and they are known for producing a range of different whiskies. In addition to "The Classic Laddie," they also make a regular peated whisky called "Port Charlotte," which has a smoky flavor but is not as heavily peated as some of the other Islay whiskies. They also produce "Octomore," which is the heaviest peated whisky in the world. "Octomore" is known for its intense smoky flavor, which is achieved by using barley that is heavily peated and then distilled using traditional methods.

AN interesting aspect of this whisky, is that the bottle comes with a batchnr, and than you can look up what casks where used to make this particular batch:

In my particular case: apparently there is some amarone cask in their, and all of the US bourbon barrels are first fill. I can't remember what the make-up was of the previous bottle I owned, and I lost the batch nr, but definitely different.

I like this approach by the distillery it gives transparency about the product, and while tasting, it is very interesting to be able to know what different influences went into the whisky.

Overall, Bruichladdich "The Classic Laddie" is a unique and interesting whisky that stands out from other Islay whiskies due to its lack of peat. If you're looking for a whisky that is smooth, fruity, and easy to drink, "The Classic Laddie" is definitely worth trying. And if you're a fan of peated whiskies, be sure to check out Bruichladdich's other offerings as well!

Cheers
