TASTING NOTE by LMDW experts:
Appearance : topaz with orange glints.
Nose : rich, complex. Revealing a blend of vanilla, very ripe banana, passion fruit, mango and curry, the initial nose is quite simply sublime. With incredible freshness and maturity, once allowed to breathe it develops into notes of honey and beeswax. Further on, it transports us to a very bucolic setting to collect juicy and crunchy apples and pears. Even further on, in addition to exotic fruit, aromas of fresh tobacco and pine resin soak through notes of orange and mandarin.
Palate : juicy and generous. On the attack, the same exotic fruits coat the walls of the palate with their tangy juice. Then, we are suddenly taken to Ireland. On the mid-palate, red and black fruit (raspberry, blueberry) and nectarines further strengthen the gustatory similarities. Delicately woody and roasted, the sublimely malty end of the palate returns quick as a flash to Fort William. For the second time, beeswax envelops the taste buds whilst notes of incense bring lots of spirituality.
Overall : long, concentrated. Mango, pineapple, gooseberry and greengage plum elegantly release their liquorice notes. The mouthfeel is extremely delicate and prolongs these moments of pure pleasure for eternity. The retro-nasal olfaction reveals lots of autumn fruits (walnut, sweet chestnut, chestnut, hazelnut). The empty glass releases aromas of coconut, rice pudding, Mirabelle plum and candied ginger. Magnificent.
It all gives a desire to taste this wonderful whisky, right?=)
