White is White Challenge - Sunday Anything Goes - Melting Ice on the Lawn

For my entry today into the whiteiswhite challenge, I'm sharing a photo that I took this afternoon at my parent's house. I was there for my weekly family supper with them and decided to walk around the exterior of house for a little bit as the snow and ice has finally begun melting in the yard. Yesterday was especially warm outside (it was a blistering +5 ºC...pretty warm for us Canadians this time of year), but things went back below freezing again today. This caused many gaps in the ice to appear where the warmer water was melting and flowing yesterday.

Today's photo features one such gap, which looks almost like a river with it's various twists and turns. I suppose yesterday it likely did look like a river, with lots of water flowing down through the gap from the more elevated parts of the yard. I was able to get down nice and low to the ground to capture this photo, making it look larger and impressive! You can also see that much of the ice at the edges is actually hoovering a few centimeters off of the ground itself, which I find to be very cool (pardon my pun)!
