Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has been appointed as World Health Organization's(WHO's)Deputy Director -General.
A new leadership was announced on Tuesday in WHO.Deputy Director-General is the second highest post at the UN agency.
Dr. Swaminathan widely known for her research on Tuberculosis worldwide is a renowned Paediatrician and Clinical Scientist.
She was also the director of National Institute for Reasearch on Tuberculosis,Chennai,India.
