I really liked the Merovingian when he showed up in the second movie. This very scene left me quite impressed when I saw it for the first time.
Very sad that he did not live up to this in the third movie.

Not sure why it makes you sad. The Merovingian is an arch type representing natural law structure. If you do not know why you need the "key maker" ( archtype for creative forces) then you have no power. If you are not creative you have no real power or you are a follower. Thanks for the comment!
