What is Acorn Grove Witchcraft Group?

in wicca •  7 years ago

Acorn Grove is a mystical minded group of witches that I am part of. You don't have to identify as pagan, a witch, or an occultist to join. Last year my friend Will and I started the Grove because we were bored and wanted to do some full moon rituals in the park. This fills a hole in the local occult community which doesn't have a lot of free and open rituals and workshops. A lot of them are paid and meet in sweaty exercise studios.

We did a full moon ritual, then invited other people to join us the next month. Full moon rituals, known as Esbats in Wicca, are for casting spells, while Sabbats (solar rituals) are more for social gathering. This Beltane to Samhain season we are going to be having our regular rituals again at our local spot in Marcus Garvey Park, in Harlem. We are also going to be having meetups in the front garden of a liberal church that some of our members belong to.

Another program that we are getting involved with is the tarot division. We are going to be having classes on Tarot cards, as well as other forms of oracle cards. One thing we've gathered is a Tarot lending library since the members of the group have amassed about 40 decks and are continuously collecting decks. Actually I've personally amassed about 40 decks which is embarrassing.

This circulating library operates upon the same principles as the New York Public Library: 3 week renewable loans, and certain fines for lateness. We are going to start with a maximum of one renewal. To get an Acorn Grove library card, you need to come to at least 2 Acorn Grove events, confirm your presence via social media, and we need to have your phone number, email and a mailing address to collect fines and fees, if there are any.

This is very interesting; I wish I could live closer to go there and join in. It's nice seeing how an inclusive community of witches and practitioners of magick and people interested in them interact :3 Also, I think it's lovely you've amassed such a collection; I would be delighted to have that many but unfortunately things around here in my country make it hard to do so ^^;
