Walls and other appliances can interfere with the quality of the Wi-Fi signal we receive, since these obstacles attenuate the electromagnetic waves through which wireless internet travels. However, a new essay by Darmouth College shows a novel and incredibly economical way to increase the wifi signal in your home.
Through previous research, it was discovered by chance that placing a soda can behind the router improves the signal. It is believed that the signals that come out of the device are reflected more in one direction thanks to the can, and a piece of aluminum foil, with a specific shape, would improve this fact.

The form that gave the most results is a kind of "worm". When it got behind the router, it focused the signals more effectively than the soda can, and as such, the Wi-Fi signals were more intense.
The study has not yet been reviewed and has not yet been published in any scientific journal, so it is still not entirely clear how much more powerful this amplifier is compared to the devices that repeat the signal. It is also unknown how an aluminum casing affects Wi-Fi security, although it is believed that it increases its protection, since focusing in one direction would prevent the signal from bouncing around.
