Manchester City is considering taking legal action against Wigan's fan, who attacked Sergio Aguero after meeting between the two England Cup teams. The police began an investigation after the host of the hosts invaded the pitch to celebrate the 1-0 victory. Two supporters have already been arrested on the case.

Wigan must also carry out a "full investigation" after television shots from the chaotic scenes showed Aguero had a clash of supporters. The Argentinean immediately reported to the officials that the individual had attacked him with obscene words and spat it.

Aguero and City still have to decide whether to address the issue further but will discuss with lawyers whether they think there was a general assault. Chief Investigator Stuart Ellison of the Manchester Police said: "Football is a family event, and breaking the order that players and fans have been subjected to will not be tolerated."
