Short depressing post. I just want to say @steemleak is temporarily suspending all donations to wikileaks until I see convincing proof that Julian Assange is alive .
Julian has been a personal hero of mine for a long time, and I can't emotionally deal with going over all of the evidence that's led me to make this decision right now.

It's a disturbing story, for sure. I keep seeing more and more that speaking truth is a surefire way to be persecuted. Free country? Sure. If by "free" you mean "targeted for having the balls to speak out and expose corruption and evil."

If you disagree feel free put in a heap of personal time and effort and donate all the rewards to wikileaks yourself. Seriously I've asked for contributors and put aside my personal earnings to try and encourage contributors and it seems nobody gives a shit..
With the price so low it's not exactly ideal for crowdfunding anyway.
The funds in the account are safe, but I've always done this to support Julian specifically so until I know he's alive im hitting pause.

I think its a good idea to put aside donations for now anyway since the price is what it is, and tbh just having steem laying there isn't better than powering it up, it would probably be better to donate in the future through weekly payments anyway in my opinion. Considering how popular patreon.com is getting where many users and organisations rely on others donating money to them on a monthy basis, weekly will be even better. :)

@sneak is partially right, unsubstantiated rumors did influence this decision - however I've been seeing many red-flags ever since the day the dead-mans-switch was triggered.
This really deserves a massive post to explain, for now I just wanted to say I'm sorry and PAUSE because a lot of really suspicious things are coming out of the official wikileaks twitter for a start.. There is a LOT of misinformation right now, I don't want to add to it so I'm sorry but I'll stay vague till I have more confirmation.

This shit is weird, why would they say on the twitter account that he's alive and well if he actually was? Knowing full well that those "thousands asking for proof" need actual proof to believe it; Not just some tweet saying he is alive. If JA is confirmed as being murdered - WL will be forever changed and compromised imo , and I don't want to be the one to support it.
I could hand the account, and domain over to someone if they want to continue fundraising for wikileaks without JA, but I dont want to be involved personally (IF its confirmed)
Part of me wants to use the @julianassange account I reserved early on (and have tried for months to give JA) to write a eulogy, and script up something so @steemleak powerdowns promote that eulogy weekly for the next 2 years. And then destroy all keys.

I'm now more convinced then ever that he's not, they stalled for 24hrs and now gave this empty statement with no proof of life still. Then they stalled longer, and decided to make a poll about how to prove he's alive (with another 24hrs delay to "collect results") ..

Be safe man @austitbank , there are a lot of bad people out there. Just know that you're doing this for a good cause, if you are uncertain about the situation just go with your gut feeling. Take a break, let the news settle down first. Suspending all the funds for a while is not bad! I don't know why people are being so harsh with their comments!
