THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 10 - EASTERN COTTONTAIL RABBIT

in wild-man •  7 years ago  (edited)

Yes, the #wild-man is also friends with furry creatures!

This is one of the most common rabbits in North America. The Eastern Cottontail is one of those cute, furry, and cuddly-looking creatures that most folks are more partial to. Though I like my reptiles and amphibians a lot, I have a place in my heart for mammals just like they have a place in the earth.

While I was watering the garden yesterday, this one jumped out. Quickly, I barehanded it and took it over to the @little-peppers. After a few photos and the video, it was back to the wild. We will see if it jumps back in the garden or not. For some real info on it, you'll have to check out the video.

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

Rabbit

you always have amazing posts thanks

What a sweet little one. Thanks for the detailed information!

Thanks for the content suggestion @thelivingpoet! Chill lifestyle bro

what a snag! I've never been able to catch one of these!

Oh yeah I recognize them. We have tons here. I hate mowing because of it. Scared ill run over them. Even worse in the fields.

My dogs go totally crazy when they see a bunny in our yard. I'm always afraid they will escape and catch the poor things but so far so good, thankfully. :D

Great video and article. :D Thanks for sharing. :D

Awesome my brother! Thank you for this info. We recently acquired 3 bunnies and a hutch(for free!) from a friend. I've been trying to figure out what kind they are. Clearly, they're three different breeds, but after watching this, one is definitely an eastern cottontail. The poop is amazing fertilizer and doesnt need composting; just throw it right in your garden.
By the way, we've led parallel lives, and glad we are both out of the darkness.
Blessings to you and all the peppers :)

Very cool and I love the rabbit manure! Great stuff!

Glad to hear you are out of the darkness too!

So cute!

That they are! Thanks!

Really nice.

Is a wild rabbit?, and he doesn't run away from humans?

Yes, it is wild and it does run away. I just ran quicker and grabbed it.

so sweet! I love furry wild rabbits!!! ^_^

Me too! They are a very nice animal and I really like them.

How cool! I hope he doesn't bite !

It did not bite me! Thanks!

I'm surprised you were able to catch him! We have a large abundance of cottontails in Conneaut Lake, Pa. Great post!

I've caught a lot of these barehanded in my days. Just ask @bluerthangreen or the @little-peppers!

Well, you must be quick @papa-pepper :-)

So cute!

I have a rabbit as a pet. I love Rabbits.

But they make awfully messy pets. haha

awesome video man.

you are truly a real mountain man bro..multi talented. How do you know so much about animals? Just being around them your whole life?

Yep, most of my knowledge is hands on. It's how I grew up and I never grew out of it!

thats really wild😁

Awesome man! Love all the animals

As always, you rocked sir. The cute bunny is great and it looked just like how my girlfriend drew a Easter bunny :D
The one thing I love about your is that you never forget to take proof. I'm happy to see people having the same mentality or behaviour that I have. Adventurous, animal lover, energetic. As being the papa, your kid will follow your path and make you proud.
I'll check on you to see post just like this cause I love it :)
And again, here's my new post. A post which I mentioned in my Introduction.
https://steemit.com/life/@mother98/freerunning-parkour-why-i-do-it

that last photo seems to indicates that the rabbit has taken a liking to you. nice post @papa-peppers

Aww, he's so cute @papa-pepper.

That's pretty cool, but, with their breeding rate and the fact that they eat such a wide variety of plants. How do you keep them away from your garden? Also, what kind of role do they play in the grand scheme of a farm? Do you use their droppings to make compost? I like your posts!

It looks very calm. That's surprising. Has it grown accustomed to you and the little peppers?

Upvoted :)

Nicely done...good way to educate others.

Rabbit its harmfull animal, i like to feed them when one of my friend house.

Congratulations @papa-pepper
You took 26 place in my Top 100 of posts

Boy you are super brave. I was feeling like terrifying .... Nice post. Thanks.

Nice grab! The bunny is surprisingly calm. Must be the @papa-pepper mojo...

A nice change of pace from all of the reptile haha

I like to switch it up a bit from time to time. Glad you liked it!

It seems that this young rabbit listened to you, @papa-pepper attentively and was hypnotized. You are lucky. Usually they scratch hard and break out.
Great video!

beautiful rabbit, i like these posts, keep them coming !!

LONG LIVE THE KING as always;)

Adorable! Yes we have a large number of rabbits around us. I hope he comes back to see you!

Amazing. You are the real Ace Ventura.

Salute my friend!

Just looks like a mega mouse! Probably less menacing though!!!

How are you catching all these animals?

This reminds me of one time I was on my back patio and saw a bird. I held out my hand and a while bird flew over and landed right on my finger. I've owned birds in the past and am pretty good with animals. Anyhow, to this day my girlfriend refuses to believe me lol.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I live in southern Arizona and managed to disturb 2 jackrabbits this morning while watering. Should get to 100+ today so the bunnies are looking for shade.

nice thanks for sharing!

It's so cute and fluffy!!!!!!!

Nice one as i scary from spider and snake but good videos.

Interesting to read this post ... thanks @papa-pepper

That there is just one more kind of garden harvest! ; ) Otherwise, good luck in keeping them out of your garden. You must have it all fenced off pretty well with chicken wire otherwise! You can run 6 or 8 box traps a day for rabbits, I think, in Arkansas. My dad does pretty well at it, baiting them with a piece of apple or a carrot. Here's one -- the bait stick at the top is off, because there's a possum inside of it, lol.

interesting, you got a new follower!

Beautiful photo

I enjoyed your post on the cotton-tail thank you. Well done on the video also. (Upvoted)

Found a cottontail in the neighborhood!

A couple of years ago, we had a cotton tail spending the summer in our backyard. I planted some vegetables in a corner and he kind of made it his home. Wasn't destructive, he just ate mostly grass and hung around between the veggies lol. Was fun to watch.

Sounds like you need a better fence for your garden....ha...ha

Cool rabbit!
