THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 19 – LEOPARD FROG

in wild-man •  7 years ago

These are some incredible, sleek jumpers!

Now this is the frog that you want in a frog jumping contest. The Leopard Frog is technically a generic name given to any number of specific species within this kind. Feasting on a variety of insects, they will also eat small snakes and other frogs!

With green, brown or gray as a base color (and sometimes blends of those colors) it is their dark spots on top of that base that gives them their name. When you add in the beautiful eyes that almost look like they are filled with flakes of gold, you wind up with one incredibly attractive creature.

I grew up capturing these frogs and am glad that I can now teach my @little-peppers to do the same, especially since these are some of the hardest frogs around to capture. Enjoy the video!

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

Great works great photos.<3

Thank you @me-do!

Nice

Nice post @papa-pepper

Love frogs and these leopard frogs are gorgeous! Here in the Cape Town area of South Africa we have the rare and endangered Western Leopard Toad... beautiful creature. When its breeding season loads of volunteers patrol the roads at night to try to prevent too many being squished on the roads as they make their way to ponds to mate.

That is a great way to volunteer! I'm glad to hear that people care about preserving the species!

Very cool, do you have bufo toads where you live? Here in Fl they are everywhere! Gotta keep the pets away from them!

Not sure. So far I've just seen the regular American Toads.

Awesome looking frogs and great photos.

Thank you @mostly.nature.

Leopard frog....! Wow, I have never seen this frog before.

I once had a pet frog, but release him go back home for he misses his family very much!

Way to go. Wild frogs like being in the wild most of all! Thanks!

I've never have seen such a species of frogs, thanks for your representation of the special frogs. Take care, son of Crocodile Dundee! ;-)

son of Crocodile Dundee! ;-)

LOL- Thanks, I appreciate that!

Just a question of curiosity dear @papa-pepper , Do people eat this type of frogs?

People can and do, but the Bullfrog is much more commonly consumed. Personally, I have only very rarely on m own, but I'll eat them at a restaurant.

Despite working in kitchens for 15 years, I have only once tasted frogs in my whole career, while i was preparing it for some guests!

Man that thing looks awesome. Never really saw one like that. How did you even get close enough to catch them?

You have to be sneaky and very quick. It comes with practice.

You are a Wild Man. LOL
I have had some wild animals in my lifetime ( Raccoon, Wolf)
Love your post and videos.
Blessings to you!!

Another one of God's beautiful creatures, a perfect work of art. Thank you for highlighting these little guys.

I think your knowledge about animals like this is very good master @papa-pepper you make a post that people rarely make it. Thanks master.

Hello again Mr @papa-pepper, I just a bit curious, are these species all yours? Another thing is, That frog you are holding, Aren't they poisonous? 🤔🤔

These species are all wild creatures. I capture them, take some photos, teach the @little-peppers a bit, maybe shoot a video, and then release them.

I don't think these frogs are poisonous. People eat them.

Wow! for me it feels really scary in the wild facing wild predators and stuff. Still hoping one day you will meet axoltl's or bearded dragon.

Have you tried eating one Mr @papa-pepper?

as always @papa-pepper. you and nature. originality.
happy Sunday sir.

Wow what a beautiful frog. It definitely does look like a leopard! Thanks for showing us this beauty.

Very informative great stuff. We describe to not to long winded or short. Keep it up

That's really cool @papa-pepper :)

Wow cool man Up&Resteem!

Wow! it's ages since I have even heard a frog here.

We used to have loads of them around when I was a kid, but they seem to have all gone now, which is sad.

It could also be that I now live in a city and not the country.

I really want to go and find Archey's Frog and get a photo of one.

We have some pretty unique animals here ;-)

We are surrounded by them, but we are in the country. Best wishes finding your frog.

Nice to be able to spend your days out in nature! Not jealous! 😫

Next post is the little peppers trying to catch those frogs. I can remember the fun of doing that in my youth. Will make a good video
