THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 3 - TARANTULA

in wild-man •  7 years ago

These guys are so cool!

I had no idea that there were Tarantulas in Arkansas when I moved here, but I am sure glad that there is! In the year and a half that I have spent here, I've only seen a handful, and this one was the biggest. With a mild venom as painful as a bee sting, I was a little hesitant to pick it up barehanded, but I got over it rather quickly.

Growing up, bugs were where I got my start. They seemed to be everywhere and the world of bugs is such an incredible and interesting place to visit. Though we had some large Wolf Spiders up north, I bet my mom is glad that we did not have any tarantulas. Some days I am sure that we put her through enough. Who would have known that it would pay off one day.

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

Spiders are one of the only fears I have. AAAAAH. I love your posts, my 11 year old son loves your animal post too! You have a little wisdom fan. lol

Glad to hear the boy likes it! I've got another one about ready that I may post later today! Thanks!

I always said I've never move to the southwest because of the scorpions. If I knew Arkansas had tarantulas, I might have added that to the list too!

We have scorpions here too!

Good Lord, how do you deal with the fact that they love to hang out in shoes?

Sandals 4 life.

Uyyyy thaT is scaring

Just a little bit.

nope. nope. nope. I love animals. I DON'T do spiders!!! YIKES!!

you're the man

I am a man. Agreed.

not every body can do that

They could, they just choose not to, and with good reason sometimes!

agreed but some people suffer from Animal Phobias and Zoophobia is one of the most common specific phobias. Research conducted on this phobia has shown that humans have a genetic predisposition to fear certain types of animals. Often animals like snakes, spiders, insects etc stimulate a disgust/fear response in us. don't take me wrong I'm an animal lover

Sweet! Tarantulas are kind of my jam. I'm currently breeding around a dozen species and I have a few of that very species, Aphonopelma hentai. I hate to blast my own blog links everywhere, but here's an older one that shows one of my bird-eater species from egg sac/eggs to tiny spiderling. Thought you might appreciate. Thanks for the post, @papa-pepper!

No problem on the link drop! That's fine with me!

Okay, cool. It's an old one anyway, but seemed relevant to your topic. 🙏

Very relevant, and a wonderful post!

Aphonapelma's are fun, amusing native tarantulas, that's for sure!
Nice work!

Thank you!

Nononononono no no and no

But great video nonetheless 👍

shiver

I am glad that you could still observe it.

I cringed all the way through it

I don't do spiders!!

I'll do it so that you don't have to.

so cool :) really nice episode ;)

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. They are fun to make.

Yikes! My worst nightmare. Animals and birds OK, but arachnids....... Oh nooooo. 😯😬
Great post though.

Glad that you still enjoyed it!

These guys are so cool!

Your definition of cool is very different than mine lol. My first instinct upon seeing that spider would be to get as much far from it as possible :p

LOL!

😂

Scary thing!, i would not hold that for anything! :P

Not even for STEEM?

Not even for all the steem in the world lol

Not yet...

Papa, you are doing an amazing job! Saw your recent donation to @darthnava.

Mad respect.

Thank you.

Hollyshit, upvoted you and it went from $10.32 to $33.85.
Sweet!

Yours came in at the same time as others! But still, thanks!

I just stepped in when I saw a need. I am not alone. Many have.

But still, thank you.

You were the one that set the example.

I was recently helped out with 50 STEEM to get my account usable again. Made me think of a steemian of the day draw.

🍁 I just did the new post 🍁

Add a new entry daily to the draw 😜

AH HELL NAH! HOMIE don't PLAY DAT!

Hello. I did a post today to verify myself, but I have no idea if I did it right... I would appreciate it if you could check it out.

@steemitqa I AM WITH YOU!! (I'm a nube so, I would TOTALLY put it in bold if I knew how!!). :)

They look like the ones here in Texas. I wouldnt think they would be that far north but i guess they do!!

I've even seen them in southern Missouri, though they probably don't pay much attention to state lines.

Well you learn something new everyday. A bit sad that they wait 10 years to get their leg (legs) over and then die.

Voted and followed :) Looking forward to learning more.

Papa-pepper, do you use a double in your proof shots? If so looks just like you.....or maybe split screens......LOL..... ps....good job with @darthnava. support..

Once again I have the heebie jeebies.

I'll drop it off on your land if you want... ;-)

That's very dope Wild man @papa-pepper

Glad that you think so!

So you are now the official 'spiderman' . Showed my son your pictures and that's what he called ya. Now only if u had the Spidey suit 😂😂😂

I was considering trying to take a selfie with one in my mouth.... not sure how that would taste.

😂😂 like chicken 🤣🤣a really hairy one

LOL!

I absolutely hate spiders but find it fascinating to watch the large furry taratulas.... i just couldnt touch them..... or snakes.... i hate snakes too... Give me a furry kitty kat any day!!!! Love your posts x

wow brave man, salute!
followed for more scary stuff lol

I'm not big on spiders but the grandsons would love your post. I have to show them.

I don't like spiders at all... I'm afraid of them ahahah but I congratulate you for your courage!

Nice ! I love spiders. Excellent post!

How do you like it, live in an environment of wildlife. It's so cool.

Of all the creatures you have shown, this is the one I am probably most familiar with.

I used to capture them as a kid. We had frequent death matches.

Tarantula v. Scorpion
Praying Mantis v. Scorpion
Centipede v. Tarantula

ad infintum!

I would handle the tarantulas and praying mantises, but the scorpions... not so much. You may not see any scorpions in Arkansas, but they are lots of "fun"!

@papa-pepper keepen it spicy. I just learned from @amri that when he got bitten by a spider or insect he had his mom threw up a clove of garlic into a paste and then rub the garlic past on the spider bite.

Keep inspiring us to get the most out of mother nature!

youre a wild man , Whats youre fav animal?

Tarantula, way cool, what a nice beard. Gonna enter it in the beard comp?
Seems Arachnophobia abounds, including Fear and loathing!
Taken from post: https://steemit.com/story/@bilbop/arachnid-vs-wizard
@bilbop original poem:

The Tarantula Dharma

Web-ster she's not,
Ground sweeper she be,
Keeper of the Ley Lines,
She don't climb a tree -Ol' Wizards Proverb

I like to have an encounter with those giant 8 legged creatures, so huge!

Brill, not a huge fan of spiders but this dude looked alright!

wow. what happened to you hand? it bleeding because of spider?

Poisin ivy most likely... Comes with the territory.

That's some pretty fantastic tarantula control!!

Okay so ironically enough my favorite super-hero is Spider-Man but theres is no way that I'll even consider touching a spider unless I have at least gloves on lol. As always this was very informative and fun post to watch along with ALL of your wild-animal-friends, keep doing what you do because not too many people can interact with God's creation the way you do ;)

Love your posts man. Educating the world on living in harmony. Really cool.

Typical, even with spiders the males have to go looking for the females. LOL There should be some kind of Lady Spiders night out to make it easier on the males.

I like spiders for they are so important beings in our ecosystems, but I'm not sure if I would have dated to pick up this beauty barehanded! Great job, cool post! Following to see more of that kind!
