THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 30 - CUBAN BROWN ANOLE

in wild-man •  8 years ago

What a fast and beautiful lizard!

The Cuban Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei) can now be found across the southern United States and even in Taiwan. Originally, it was found in the Caribbean Islands.

Like other small lizards, the Cuban Brown Anole became popular in the pet trade, and many made their way outside in the wild. Since they have the tendency to displace the native lizards, they are considered to be invasive by some.

The males have a beautiful bright orange dewlap. The pattern on their backs can look like that of a Red-Tailed Boa or Copperhead. For more info, check out the video below.

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

CUBAN BROWN ANOLE

Obviously, we are having a lot of fun in South Texas. We are about to head out to South Padre Island to see what we can find in the sea. I'll be back later, and we'll keep you posted.

Hello @papa-pepper. I translated this post in Russian. Translation here: https://steemit.com/wild-man/@igor-steem/dikie-druzya-dikogo-cheloveka-epizod-30-kubinskii-korichnevyi-anolis . Thank you! You're just lucky beggar. You're lucky if this dinosaur had teeth like a crocodile, I would not have envied you. :-)

I love the dewlap on that one. Unfortunately, lizards don't do too well this far north.

How far north?

Middle of Nebraska

reptiles are really cool in my opinion, i have a greenbottle blue tarantula and a jackson chameleon. very interesting species

Very cool species!

That is awesome! I just learned something new!
When you pull his dewlap out it looks like a strawberry.

Thanks papa!
....upvoted and resteemed!

Lol, a strawberry!

Well kinda!

Aggressive little guy, I bet they can really sprint!

Hey Pappa Pepper! Back on Steemit now, was away for some time - good to see you again.

Glad to see you back!

Love watching the lizards... gottem where I am too.

I love all the creatures you seem to find.

I like animal videos I'm glad I discovered this guy :D

Glad to hear it, I've made over 30 so far!

He wasn't giving you an easy time, was he? lol

That red and yellow dewlap is stunning!

arghhhhh i'm scared of lizzard. love animal btw @papa-pepper

^_^

When are you going to wrestle a gator?

Tried to today, couldn't find any.

This male lizard reminds me of one I saw sometime on Nageo Wide that flies. From one tree, it spreads two pseudo wings that project it to another tree. Very amazing

I have heard of those but never met one yet. Very cool!

ewww :p

Awesome, glad you're having fun down there. You sure seem to have an affinity with the crawly critters. A rapport, one could say.

Enjoy South Padre, the most beautiful beach in the Lone Star State!

P.S.
Also, how do you go about catching these quick guys, and without harming theme no less?

I've got enough @little-peppers to get the surrounded.

Cool post. I used to have couple of brown lizards as pets when I was young...
Here in New Zealand they have one of the oldest species of lizards called the Tuatara - looks a bit like a mini dinosaur
tuatara.jpg

Yes, I have heard of those and they are very cool. Maybe one day I can come down and meet one in the wild.

I like lizards. Here at my house there is a couple of them in the garden. It is really great to sit and watch them busy with their daily routines

Dangling from your finger is so cute. :) @papa-pepper

We have lizards all over down here.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't secretly wanting that little lizard to jump on your face! lol
