A week ago now but I had a cracking wild camp on Robinson's Head in the Lake District (3.235306). This time I took a friend with me so had the advantage of motorised transport, meaning a wee travel up to the lakes. Only a couple of hours along the M6 not too far on a cracking day.
Once in the Lakes the roads are packed with happy walkers, thankfully they are all leaving after a days strolling. One of the reasons I don't tend to head to the lakes as often, it's just too dam busy.
Once parked up in a now clear carpark we begin the accent to Robinson. A leisurely walk but with stunning views to take in along the way.
Arriving at the reservoir I was tempted to take a dip but we needed to find a spot to camp. The peak was a ridge not ideal as I did not want to be rolling off in the night beside it was bloody steep with a big old rucksack on the back and it was still rather warm.
While we stood and pondered our next move a couple came strolling along with their cat. Now the nearest house was a good forty minute walk away so a rather humorous encounter I thought. Talking to the couple they said they often come to the reservoir and this is the first time they had got the cat to follow them all the way top effort haha.
I spotted a plateau up a steep hill and prompting bolted up it, it was perfect with cracking views. I encourage my mate upon my return and then promptly ascended it again this time carrying two bags as he was shattered.
Safely at the top it was time to get the shoes of and go barefoot, set up my bivy bag and laugh as my mate putting up his tent. I think he was offended when I called this clamping, anyways time for a cider ahhh perfect ...
After a average sunset I got some dinner on. We chatted as the light failed and enjoyed the quite and fresh air. It was time to hit the sac!
A good nights sleep was had; bar the wailing fox which I admit did scare me for a second, it always sounds horrific a fox. Anyways I woke to a cracking sunrise lay in my bag taking in the view then got on to cooking up some nice hearty porridge:
We packed up camp, leaving not trace! Then took the quickest route down the very steep hill on our ass
A leisurely walk back to the car passing the nice Easter Lambs (no bunnies sorry). What a cracking Easter Camp ...
That looks bliss! Fantastic sunset photos too. And that cat! I've seen a few pics of people taking their cats to the mountains recently. I think it must be a new fashion. The weather was great last week.
Unfortunately I missed the chance to upvote, as I've been away on the Isle of Rum for a week without internet, and then I came back to total chaos, so I'm only just getting back to Steemit. They should definitely extend the 7-day payment window. I've missed so much!
