Tiny little yellow flowers really stand out against the sparse, burned background at this time of the year. All of the plants flowering now are taking advantage of the space created from the burned grass and most of them have thick roots or little bulbs which enables them to grow leaves and flower even though no major rains have fallen yet.
I'm not sure which species of Lotononis this is but they are a part of the legume (pea) family and the flowers are all somewhat alike. Lotononis is only found in Southern Africa. This one is growing next to a lily in the Ledebouria family
