The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)

Having gone deep into the forest, where there are no paths, and in general it is difficult to move because of fallen trees and dense thickets of bushes, I was looking for a place to take a break from this painful hike. Suddenly I noticed movement and rustling. It was this furry animal.

Squirrels in this forest are unusually rare. I do not know what this is connected with. And it seems like at the present moment, we have not a single squirrel left. Last year I have not met, this one too. It’s sad. This squirrel ran through a fallen tree, which lay so well that it formed a kind of bridge between two trees. And she ran back and forth. I was interested in what she was doing. It turned out that she was tearing moss on one side, ran across the tree and carried it into the hollow.

Wow, these are great photos! Such a cool and exotic squirrel to my eyes.
