The Hope

Rhino. Poaching. It's an on going struggle, and it's desperate times!

But it's not all doom and gloom, there are patches of light, streams of hope, shining through the clouds of despair. This young lady recently had a son, who is growing up well, and will no doubt, in time, charge me when he sees me driving by, as his father did before him. It's in their nature. It keeps them (relatively) safe from natural enemies.

He is young, and was very happy for us to be so close to him, mostly because his mother is ok with it. You see, she's deaf. She has no ears, and so she doesn't mind us driving right up to her, which for a black rhino is almost unheard of (no pun intended)! But as he grows older, and gains his independence, I am certain that he will do as his father did, and charge us to chase us away from, leaving him in peace to browse all the Acacia leaves he wants.
I hope to see that day...
