Knowing God's purpose for your life: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 1 John 5:14

God listens to those who fear him and to them reveals the secrets of eternal life: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know", Jeremiah 33:3.
Everything has a logic and despite his omnipotence, God cannot go against his own wisdom, that is why God listens to those who seek him with a clean heart: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask— we know that we have what we asked of him.", 1 John 5:14-15.
It is so important to ask, whatever we need but always according to the will of God, that the Lord's Prayer itself, the most important prayer in the Christian faith, taught by Jesus indicates it:
"Our Father in heaven
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.", Matthew 6:9-13.

The Lord's Prayer teaches us to ask for sustenance to live, for daily bread to put on the table, and then for the wealth of his spiritual gifts, that is, for his kingdom to come. And this is the most important because the true goods of man are a consequence of wisdom, that is, the Kingdom among men, only those who ask wisely ask according to the will of God and are listened by him. God has a purpose for human life, increase mercy, increase charity.
If we close our hearts our neighbor and ask only to attend to our own vanity and concupiscence, we will not obtain more than the curses explained in the Sermon on the Mount of the Gospel of Luke (Luke 6:20-26), that is to say, the apparent and fleeting happiness like the clouds in the sky. Immortality and eternal life (contemplative activity) do not belong to the proud but to the humble of heart.
