Words of the wind

Sylphs, sometimes also called sylphs, are one of the four types of elemental spirits. They are associated with air, wind and thoughts. They can be as small as a butterfly or massive enough to cover the sky in their path. It is easy to recognize them for their ever-present desire to dance and swirl.

The sylphs are those that drive the flight of the gigantic rocks and inspire the music of the whale songs. They are loquacious spirits and charlatans, carrying gossip to the great ears of gnomes and blowing stories into the elves' long ears. They know all the stories, the lies and the jokes. They are childish and playful, making fairies dance, combing the teeth of lions and playing with everything that is not firmly on the ground.

.
The whale songs are so called because of the noise they make as they pass by, which is added to the wind to add a touch of magic.

But they are also spirit filled with wisdom: they have been part of the deep breath of the masters reaching enlightenment, they have kept the mantras alive over the years and brought the rhythm of tribal drums to the last corner of the planet.

Tolkien, like me, was a lover of the rocs. Being from a windy city, I grew up seeing the figures of these massive spirits contorting themselves with the dust they raise by flapping their wings.

All the spirits of nature, plants, animals and those humans aware of their existence celebrate the elementals; but while the salamanders and their fire are venerated, the undines and their water are grateful, and the gnomes and their land are honored, the sylphs are the center of their own party.

Full of dance, because the fairies will not go to a party to which they can not dance, of songs and fun, they visit the central trees of the forests, those called cathedrals because of their size and sacredness. And once the animals had tired, that the songs had finished and the spirits had found where to sit, there is a great silence.

Sometimes cathedrals are not so obvious in the landscape, but they will always stand out because of the intense energy that surrounds them.

The sylphs then begin to tell their stories and impart their teachings.

They are the ones who have heard whispering, who from the sky have seen it happen or who have invented by mixing the words that have been shouted in their bursts. With their wisdom, fast tongue and peaceful souls, the sylphs pour their magic on the guests and thus ensure that they fulfill some of their many missions: that the dreams whispered to heaven reach those who can fulfill them, that this message released to the wind reaches the ears indicated and that the passage of each being through the world is never forgotten.
