The History and all about of Windows Operating system

What is Operating system?
First we should know about Operating System, before learning about Windows operating system. So, basically Operating system is system software. It is a connection between computer programs and hardware. It can manage computer hardware and software, and it can also provide some common services for any computer programs. Operating system controls many hardware functions, such as input and output and memory allocation. The computer operating system is Windows operating system.

What is Windows Operating system?
To run personal computers, Microsoft developed Windows Operating system. And the windows operating system has many editions. Microsoft targets specific editions at different usage scenarios, providing cheaper editions to customers who do not want all the features available in a more expensive edition. Windows is the first graphical user interface (GUI) for IBM – compatible PCs. There is 90 percent of computer user’s uses windows operating system and they run some version of windows.

In 1985, world gets a new operating system, a GUI offered Windows operating system. Dos users used to type commands to do any work on computer. But the new operating is GUI based operating system. For the first time windows shows graphically displaying the contents and any important data in virtual desktop by just click the mouse bottom on the folders and files. This version provides many features like program manager, print manager, Windows File Manager and many others dynamic interface. Now when it gets popular the users wants many more features. And this is the time to upgrade Windows. Now the user wants a new internet support base operating system. Microsoft developed Windows NT; it is the first networkable Windows for workgroups. But it cannot be more popular as much developers wants.

Finally in 1995, Microsoft released Windows 95. It offers a build-in internet support. Now users can use web browser and internet explorer. But still it has many difficulties to use this operating system, and it was not a secure operating system. Microsoft releases a newer version in 2001 Windows XP.
Windows WP gives many features in a single Operating system. It has very powerful code base and many practical interfaces. Memory management was improved in this Operating System. Windows XP offers many editions for consumers, developer’s edition and in business purpose edition. XP can be used in many different fields. At last in 2006 Microsoft released a new version Windows Vista. But it was a large, slow and resource-consuming system. So it was not as popular as Microsoft wanted.
At last in 2009 Microsoft released Windows 7. The Windows 7 operating system comes on multiple editions. You will sometimes see these editions referred to as Stock Keeping Units (SKUs). Microsoft targets specific editions at different usage scenarios, providing cheaper editions to customers who do not want all the features available in a more expensive edition. There are six different editions-
Windows 7 Starter: - It is the first edition of windows 7. It does not support or include the Windows Aero user interface, DVD playback, Windows Media Center, IIS Web Server, internet connection sharing, Encrypting File System, Applocker, Direct Access, bitlocker, Remote Desktop Host and Brancache.
Windows 7 Home Basic: - It is available only in emerging markets. It does not support of include the Windows Aero user interface, DVD playback, Windows Media Center, or IIS Web Server. A computer with this edition of Windows 7 cannot connect to a domain. This edition does not support enterprise features also. It does support an unlimited number of cored on that processor.
Windows 7 Home Premium: - It support of include the Windows Aero user interface, DVD playback, Windows Media Center, or IIS Web Server. But a computer with this edition of Windows 7 cannot connect to a domain. This edition does not support enterprise features.
Windows 7 Professional: - You can join computers with this operating system installed to a domain. It support of include the Windows Aero user interface, DVD playback, Windows Media Center, or IIS Web Server. It supports EFS and Remote Desktop Host.
Windows 7 Enterprise: - It supports all the features of Windows 7 professional. It supports many new features like, Encrypting File System, Applocker, DirectAccess, bitlocker, Remote Desktop Host and Brancache.
Windows 7 Ultimate: - This operating system supports all the features of previous Windows editions. It is so useful that people still use it today.

Then Microsoft released Windows 8 in 2012. Users have to log on to use this operating system and users also use their preferred settings. Microsoft improves and includes many features in this new operating system. Microsoft improves Performance, security enhancements, and also improved touch screen device support. This version of windows also supports USB 3.0, advanced format hard disks, cloud computing and many other security features also. It has ability to prevent malware from infecting the boot process. On October 17, 2013 a new updated version was released named Windows 8.1. It supports all the features of Windows 8. Microsoft updated Windows 8 greatly on this update. It includes many security update and network update.
The latest version comes in 2015 Windows 10. Now Microsoft also announced that it would be latest version. So, Windows 10 is the latest and last version of Windows series. Windows 10 has many advance features. It can be use as a personal digital assistant like Apple’s Siri. Although it is the last version but users can get regular updates on this OS.
