The holidays have quickly rolled up on us again this year, and if you’re anything like me you’re realizing you should have started gift buying months ago. Luckily for you, I’ve put together this list of wine-themed gifts under $100.
Every wine lover has faced the problem of un-chilled white wine. Nothing can slow an evening down like waiting for a bottle to cool in the fridge or freezer. This handy gift eliminates that problem completely! The manufacturer suggests it can cut chilling time of any 12 oz beverage down to 60 seconds. That’s a fraction of the time you’d normally spend….and no need for ice cubes that will dilute the flavor of your vino!
If the person your shopping for is a regular wine geek like me, they probably have a corkscrew already. But if they’re anything like me they’ve probably struggled with flimsy dollar-store corkscrews which make opening a bottle difficult and sometimes impossible. These high-quality corkscrews from Laguiole are both beautifully designed and will never bend or break. Many corkscrews from this producer can run you into the $100s, but this one is a more affordable version.
3) Noble Rot Magazine Subscription
Where should your friends and family look for the coolest news and interesting opinions on the topic of wine? Well this blog is a good place to start! If you’d like to offer them a gift that I’ve personally received in the past (and LOVED!!!) try getting them an annual subscription to the Noble Rot Magazine. Past issues have covered topics from wine and music pairings to in-depth travel stories from the world’s most beautiful wine producing regions. If they’re not avid readers the magazine always has beautiful covers and would make for lovely coffee table material.
So maybe your loved one is more than just a wine lover, let’s assume they’re a huge wine nerd. They’re the type that always has a fancy bottle to show off, or they just HAVE to give you a history lesson of the region you’re drinking that day. This type of wine connoisseur probably has all the go-to wine related accessories and a subscription to all the popular magazines out there. Why not offer them the holy grail of wine books, The Oxford Companion of Wine. This is a book I’ve used to study wine professionally for years. The newest edition (4th Edition) just came out and its author, Jancis Robinson MW, has once again proven why she is one of the most important public figures in the wine industry today.
I’ve noticed that many times, even the most interested wine drinker doesn’t use the right type of glass for the wine they’re drinking. While this isn’t going to make or break your drinking experience, it can definitely elevate it. Consider buying a set of varietal specific glasses to help show them what a difference the proper glassware can make.
Cheers and thanks for reading,
Anthony
This is so cool. Thanks for the suggestions for all the wine lovers. Will definitely be using these ideas! My favorite one were the wine book and the wine glasses set. Never knew there were SO many different glasses haha
