Wine Matayac Cahors Malbec 2015 (Cahors · France)

in wine •  7 years ago

Color is medium purple. Plums, dark cherries, liqourice, vanilla and oak and hint of leather on the nose. Starts of plummy, slightly savory, lacking structure. Opens up to more light berries, raspberry. Structure firms up. Medium body, medium plus acidity. Fine but enveloping and long tannins. Medium finish, lingering fruitiness.
For this money - very good)

Thanks @benidorm!
I write it on my whish list! I'll look for it soon.

I hadn't thought about this before, but I haven't had a French Malbec before. Being in the US, all I see are Malbecs from Chile and Argentina.

I'll have to keep a look out for the French variety. Cool label. That lettering almost looks German, though...
