Buy a bottle for $19, and you may get fantastic upgrades (valued up to $260!). Buy more bottles for guaranteed upgrades. This is what you buy for $19:
2013 Penley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Phoenix for $19/bottle (or FREE for first time buyers!) but only 5.41% of the offer, ie 94%+ are UPGRADES!!
Accolades: 89 pts.- Antonio Galloni: "Ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of red- and blackcurrant, cherry and black pepper, with hints of fresh flowers and pipe tobacco. Shows good energy and lift to the zesty red fruit, bitter chocolate and spice flavors. The smooth finish shows gentle tannic grip, leaving a warm cherry note behind." Tasting Notes: Aromas consist of violets, black currant leaf, ripe wild berries and integrated spice notes. Mulberry and blackberry characters drive the palate and are enhanced by a young tight tannins and elegant complex cedar oak, so typical of the Penley Style. A very generous mid palate with a hint of licorice and chocolate lingers on the finish.
This is what you might be upgraded to:
2009 Chateau Lynch-Bages Pauillac Red Bordeaux 750ML valued at $260/bottle at the winery (only 0.08% of the offered bottles)
(to be honest - I have no clue how to say the name!!)
Accolades: 98 pts.- Wine Advocate: “Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a layered, massive mouthfeel, but no sense of heaviness or fatigue. This exquisite Lynch Bages should drink well for 30+ years.”
Or maybe this bottle?
2007 Whitehall Lane Leonardini Vineyard St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 750ML valued at $150/bottle at the winery (only 0.46% of the offered bottles)
Winemaker Notes: The Leonardini Vineyard is located on the western side of the Napa Valley floor at the southern edge of the town of St. Helena. This gravelly 14-acre vineyard is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit was hand sorted and fermented in a temperature controlled tank for 14 days. The pressed wine was aged separately from the free-run juice and both lots were aged in 100% French oak cooperage. After 15 months in barrel, a small portion of pressed wine was added back into the free-run and this final lot was aged an additional 12 months. This classic wine can be enjoyed now but will also age gracefully through 2027.
Other bottle upgrades ranges in value of $20-$105/bottle!
Good luck if participating!
p/s: Full disclosure, I have a very small investment interest in Underground Cellar via Angelist (and a healthy collection of upgraded wines!).
