Winemaker Notes:
Hand harvested grapes — 100 % destemmed but not crushed. Fermented in T-Bins. Cap manually punched down twice a day during fermentation. Minimal cold soak and 28 days total average cuvaison. Aged an average of 30 months in French oak barrels: 25% new oak from Tonnellerie Rousseau (Allegro barrel). Bottled unfined and unfiltered in July 2011. Released February 2012. Only 100 cases produced.
Tasting Notes:
This enticing wine displays lovely aromas of ripe strawberry and raspberry, as well as subtle notes of sandalwood and spice. On the palate, it is elegantly structured with abundant red fruit, excellent mid-palate weight and a lingering finish with a hint of fresh earth: a result of sustainably farmed, balanced older vines rooted deep into the silt, sand and gravel soils of the Salinas River Valley of Monterey.
