We all need to getaway from the cold whether you are jetting off to Europe or escaping to the sunshine coast for the weekend. My getaway was in Byron Bay. I stayed in Brunswick Heads (20 minutes north of Byron Bay) and stayed in a caravan.
We visited the lighthouse at Byron which was incredible. The views were great and as I walked along the walking track near the lighthouse - I watched a mother whale with its calf swim along the coast line. A pod of dolphins joined too. It was so breathtaking!
We also visited 'The Pass' - this is part of the national park in Byron. It has a great lookout which has amazing views and the water is an aqua blue colour. I highly recommend this place for somewhere to escape for the afternoon on a sunny day.
Brunswick Heads is all about rivers. Our caravan was located right next to the river - you can go fishing or kayaking. The town has some cute little cafes near the water and a few little boutique shops.
Byron is so close to QLD - we drove to Tweeds Head for the day - only took 45 minutes. Tweeds Head was much warmer and lots of great shopping. The water was great too especially for mid-July.
There are so many small towns around Byron Bay - that you can go for day trips. It was only a few days but I feel more relaxed and felt like I escaped the cold winter for a little bit. A great little winter getaway.
Great photos! Looking forward to hearing about your European holidays.
